This beautiful two piece suit was inspired by an illustration in an 1867 French magazine. Interestingly, the same illustration turned up the following year in an American fashion publication. The paletot and skirt feature an elaborate and delicately stitched recreation of the original soutache design. The jacket is fully lined, with center front closure, and inverted pleat at the center of the very full back. While this design is not overly difficult to assemble, some hand basting, such as setting of the sleeves, is recommended for best results. The fabric is a lovely cotton sateen, which adds a lovely sheen to the garment. A good full slip is recommended to support the very full skirt. (slip is not included in the kit). A beautiful winter version of this suit in grey and black is also available. This suit is appropriate for both the Barrois and the Huret, using Dollspart 12 1/2 resin body. Dress kit includes pre embroidered fabric, lining fabric, fasteners and fully illustrated pattern. By the Pampered Poupee.
