Lettie Lane's Sister's Children:A Book of Dressing Dolls was one of the original books by the very well known Sheila Young, author of the Lettie Lane paper doll series that appeared in the Ladies' Home Journal. This absolutely charming LIMITED EDITION reprint was beautifully reproduced by the very well known Donelle Denery and is as authentic to the original as possible. The book is 8 1/4" by 9 1/2" and is printed in full color. Printed and bound in the same method as the original, the inside of the book is printed on acid-free Vellum Bristol paper, suitable for cutting out (or framing) the six pages of paper dolls! There is also a three page verse-like story and a page of instructions for cutting out the dolls which in part reads: "As there are five or six costumes for each doll, you will be able to change its dress as often as you like to suit the weather or the season." The paper doll pages are images which were NEVER published in Ladies' Home Journal. Sheila Young, the author of this wonderful collection created greeting cards and Christmas cards which were sold in gift shops prior to working for Ladies' Home Journal. She often wrote little verses on these cards. Sometime either during or after the Lettie Lane paper doll series ran in Ladies' Home Journal, a series of little books about Lettie Lane were created and sold.
